Why Stand-up?

I've loved stand-up comedy for as long as I can remember. I've always wondered whether comedians jokes were truly original, or whether they all followed some sort of pattern. That's what I'm trying to figure out through this project. By examining joke setup, story telling, and show organization of different comedians, I'm forming mathematical equations and expressions to represent different joke types.
